Beanbox Company originated in England in
1985. The Smith family owned a gourmet cheese shop in
Loughborough and because of the large Italian community, the customers
had a big interest in coffee. The Smith men were engineers by trade and
because they couldn’t find quality coffee bean dispensers, they
designed their own to use in the shop.
The coffee dispensers in the store were
seen by coffee dealers and by word of mouth the designs snowballed into
order after order for prestigious customers such as Seattle Coffee Co.
UK and Sir Terrance Conran's coffee shop UK.
Meanwhile, Trevor Smith moved to Chicago
and introduced Beanbox designs to the U.S. market. These
dispensers have a design and level of quality not previously available
in the U.S.
This continues to be a small family-run
business dedicated to quality, craftsmanship, and partnerships with
local suppliers to keep everything made in the U.S.A.
